Unturned is a free zombie apocalypse survival game. If you’ve ever played ROBLOX it’ll look pretty familiar. Build your shelter, grow your plants, find clean water, and most importantly, survive the apocalypse! Unturned doesn’t look that great, but it’s undeniably fun.
It’s not like most survival games, especially in the inventory system. Rather than having a slot for an object, each item has a size that needs to match the number of open slots you have left. You’ll have to rearrange your backpack to try and fit in an important find. You can typically get good stuff easily, if you can avoid the zombies.
While that inventory system is creative, it’s also a bit harder to manage than it should be. It’s cool to have to reorganize your backpack, but some of the rotation controls aren’t clear, and similar items don’t stack at all. This gets frustrating if you have a bunch of cloth and must use it up to make room for more stuff.
The maps themselves are interestingly made. There are plenty of villages, farms, and towns to go to if you want to grab more supplies. They’re all peppered with dangerous zombies of various types and abilities. And if you want to keep all the stuff you find, you’ll need to build a base.
The building system is pretty intuitive, though the crafting could use a little sprucing up. The menu layout for what you can craft isn’t as easy to use as you might like, but it gets the job done. The system itself is deep; there are lots of ways to make the same thing. If you’re short on cloth, you can always rip up shirts to make the bandages you need.
The gunplay is more satisfying than you’d think. There’s a nice, crisp “pop” and the zombies (or enemy players) fall. It’s hard to appreciate it though, if you don’t have a beefy system. Nelson’s a one-man team, so optimization has gone by the wayside. If you’re running an older system, expect a lot of frame rate drops and freezes.Where can you run this program?

The Minecraft-esque visuals work really well in Unturned 2, making a beautiful picturesque blocky world to explore and survive in. The charming looking character models are excellent and will catch you off guard – it’s hard not to automatically trust other players when they look so cheery (it’s a strange experience being mugged by a bandit that looks like a Lego man!)
Unturned 2 is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and lots of features are based entirely on feedback. Even in beta form, it’s an impressive game, a fun and pleasantly cheerful take on the zombie survival sandbox genre, a great place to survive a zombie blockpockalpse.Unturned Play For Free
